Teresa Seneke (1848 – November 1875)[1] was an Italian composer[2] who is best known for her opera Le Due Amiche (The Two Friends).[3]
Seneke was born in Chieti[4] and died at age 27 in Rome.[5] Little is known about her education or personal life. Le Due Amiche premiered in Rome at the Teatro Argentina[6] in 1869, when Seneke was only 21. In addition to this opera, she composed vocal,[7] piano, and dance music.[8] Her compositions were originally published by Olivieri[9] and more recently by Alfred Music.[10]
