Is "Fiscalism" the right word? edit

The word "Fiscalism" from my understanding of the word may not be the best way to describe the Ottoman economy. Fiscalism is a modern concept and it may be better to identify what aspects of the concept relate to the Ottoman economy. Content needs to be added about transport before the advent of steam. In particular we need to focus on the Caravanserai and the role of the Greek millet in shipping in the Aegean. —Preceding unsigned comment added by VeridianVermillion (talk • contribs) 21:01, 13 August 2009 (UTC)Reply This doesnt make sense. Anybody can explain it? edit

"Much of the manufacturing shifted to the urban areas during the 18th century, in order to benefit from the lower rural costs and wages."

What? How did it benefit from rural low wages when moving to the cities?

While some of this article may be salvageable, most of it reads like a disorganized essay and doesn't cite sources. It fails to give the reader much of an overview of the topic, providing specific examples from a handful of sources without placing them into any sort of wider context. Its focus is overwhelmingly on the nineteenth century, and it almost entirely ignores earlier centuries. It makes numerous blanket statements about all of Ottoman history without providing any nuance about how the empire changed from period to period.
