Template talk:Irish names

Summary

Renaming because these names are mostly Irish and Scottish Gaelic needs a different template, being a different modern language. Although there is considerable overlap, orthographical differences mean that we would have to essentially pick one language. I'm wondering what your comments are as to how to resolve the issues raised by there being different spellings for names of the same origin in Scottish Gaelic vs. Irish. Either we would have to have 2+ versions of many names in the template, or else choose to favor one spelling over another (currently, it looks as if Irish spellings are preferred over Scottish Gaelic ones, which was why I tried to re-label this an Irish names template). Thinking about this issue again, I'm thinking it would be ideal to have 4 templates, one for Old Irish/Classical Gaelic names/spellings and one each for the modern Goidelic languages. I'm interested to hear your perspective on this. Catrìona (talk) 14:39, 2 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
