18gauge railroad /railway  like the Crewe_Works_Railway  and other railroads were use for mining and other Industrial  Industrys and as with many other track gauges in one of the oldest being that crewe works railway was build around 1860-62 this gauge as will as many other gauge are used in backyard railroads and amusement parks and historical clubs and museums .
