Alatau (Almaty Metro)

Summary

Alatau (Kazakh: Алатау, Alataý) [1] is a metro station located in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The station opened on December 1, 2011, and is on Line 1 of the Almaty Metro rapid transit system.[2]

Entrances and exist are located along Abai Avenue, Gagarin Avenue and Zharokov Street. The Alatau station of shallow laying is single-vaulted with two side landing platforms with a width of 5.4 m, a length of 104 m, between which there are rail tracks. The platform section is 17.7 m wide and 11.6 m high from the platform level.[3]

The walls of the station are decorated with white and green marble, and the floors are made of gray granite with a pattern of gray-brown granite. The art-themed panels above the descents from the vestibules at the ends of the platform section are made of Roman mosaic, bronze and relief depicting the mountaion range of the Trans-Ili Alatau.[4]
