The name Alkalibacillus derives from:
Neo-Latin noun alkali (from Arabic article al, the; Arabic noun qaliy, ashes of saltwort), alkali; Latin masculine gender noun bacillus, rod; Neo-Latin masculine gender noun Alkalibacillus, bacillus living under alkaline conditions.[3]
