Author, writer and former actress Jennette McCurdy released her memoir, I'm Glad My Mom Died, in August 2022 where she revealed she learned that Mark McCurdy, her mother Debra's husband whom McCurdy grew up believing was her biological father, was not her biological father as well as not of two of her three older brothers after her mother's death in 2013 from cancer.[10][11][12]
McCurdy identifies her biological father in her memoir as being a jazz musician named Andrew, who was later identified as Martin.[13][14][15] They have met in person at least once.[16]
