It has a District & Sessions Court which was inaugurated on 2 October 2013 by Hon'ble Shri Justice Sunil Kumar Sinha, Chhattisgarh High Court. Shri Deepak Kumar Tiwari joined as first District & Sessions Judge at Balod.
