Cyprus Rally

Summary

The Cyprus Rally is a rallying competition held yearly in Cyprus since 1970. The event is run by the Cyprus Automobile Association[1] and is based in the city of Limassol (Lemesos). It is run on the winding roads of the nearby mountains of Troödos. It was part of the FIA's World Rally Championship (WRC) from 2000 to 2006. In 2007 and 2008 the event was part of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship (MERC). The Cyprus Rally rejoined the WRC in 2009, taking advantage of the new regulations to become the only mixed surface event.

Notes edit

  1. ^ Marcus Grönholm finished first at the 2004 event with a time of 4:58:44.5, but he and his fifth-placed Peugeot team-mate Harri Rovanperä were later disqualified due to their cars' water pumps being non-standard.
  2. ^ Simos Galatariotis finished second at the 2019 event with a time of 3:05:28.8, but he and his Škoda co-driver Antonis Ioannou were later disqualified after failing to adhering to Parc Ferme rules.[2]
