Eugenia "Zhenya" Volodina (September 23, 1984, Russian: Евгения Володина) is a Russian model. Volodina started her career in 1998 and later in the 2000 she was signed by a Parisian modelling agency.[3] Volodina managed to carry the Victoria's secret wings, has modelled for Victoria's Secret in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007 and was the only non angel to open a segment in 2005.

Early life edit

Eugenia Volodina was born on September 23, 1984, in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. Volodina was raised a christian and after finishing school, wanted to pursue university.[4]

Career edit

Early work 1998-2000 edit

Volodina started her career in 1998 when she walked in an open call at a Russian casting agency. Volodina entered in the Miss Advertising contest where a Moscow Photographer Alexei Vasiliev took a few photos and sent them to a modelling agency in Paris.[4]

In 2000 she was signed by a Parisian modelling agency and decided to pursue her career there.[3]

Further recognition, 2002-present edit

In 2002 the famous photographer Steven Meisel noticed Volodina and featured her on the cover of Vogue Italia. This cover launched her career and became famous. Volodina then got the nickname "Zhenya" which is known and Zhenial (genius).[4]

In the same year Volodina took part in the same Gucci campaign as the fellow supermodel Natalia Vodianova and got to open the Gucci fall/winter show in Milan.

Volodina was the "look", the "Femme Fatale", gentle but at the same time dangerous because of her dazzling beauty and this was exactly the image which Gucci was looking for.[4][3]

Volodina was also photographed by photographers such as Patrick Demarchelier, Irving Penn and Steven Klein and one of the reasons for her success were her posing skills in front of the camera.[3]

Since 2002, Volodina has worked with numerous fashion magazines such as Vanity Fair, Elle, Vogue, -I-D, Harper's Bazaar, Numero.

Yves Saint Laurent signed her for the cosmetics.

Her runway credits include top fashion houses and designers like Alberta Ferretti, Alexander McQueen, Anna Sui, Balenciaga, Balmain, Blumarine, Bottega Veneta, Calvin Klein, Céline, Chanel, Chloé, Christian Dior, Diane von Fürstenberg, Dolce & Gabbana, Donna Karan, DSquared², Emanuel Ungaro, Emilio Pucci, Etro, Fendi, Givenchy, Gucci, Hermès, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Jil Sander, Kenzo, Lanvin, Loewe, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Max Mara, Michael Kors, Missoni, Miu Miu, Moschino, Nina Ricci, Prada, Proenza Schouler, Ralph Lauren, Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, Sonia Rykiel, Stella McCartney, Valentino, Versace, Viktor & Rolf and Yves Saint Laurent.[5]

She was back on the runway at Balmain F/W 2017 fashion show, during Paris Fashion Week.[6]
