Summary

Farahan County (Persian: شهرستان فراهان), Romanized as Ŝahrestāne Farāhān, is in Markazi province, Iran. Its capital is the city of Farmahin.[3]

After the 2006 National Census, Khenejin Rural District was separated from Komijan County and the former Farahan District was separated from Tafresh County in the establishment of Farahan County, which was divided into two districts of two rural districts each, with the city of Farmahin as its capital.

The following census in 2011 counted 30,042 people in 9,535 households.[4] At the 2016 National Census, the county's population was 28,994 in 9,744 households.[2]

Demographics edit

The majority of the county’s population are Persians who speak the Persian language.[5]

The population history and structural changes of Farahan County's administrative divisions over two consecutive censuses are shown in the following table. The latest census shows two districts, four rural districts, and two cities.[2]

After the 2016 census, the village of Talkh Ab was elevated to the status of a city.[6]
