As this is the ship's unique capability it is particularly significant to an article on the ship and cannot be adequetely replaced by a photo simply showing the ship. HMAS Tobruk only beaches during military exercises which are, by definition, not open to the public. No US military images of the ship beaching can be found. The image description on the Defence website states that this particular beaching was historically significant as it "Represented a significant milestone in the continued development of the Australian Defence Force’s amphibious capability". |
