Fashion career edit

In 2005, Harlette moved to London and began working as an investment banker. She also founded the company Harlette Luxury Lingerie, a luxury lingerie concierge service, after meeting David Jones from the London Fashion Forum. She was accepted in early 2006 to the London Fashion Forum mentoring program.

In 2009, Harlette was invited to Saudi Arabia to run a 10-day master class on the Art of Selling Lingerie for 26 Saudi women,[1] established to support the Reem Asaad Facebook campaign to allow women to work in Saudi lingerie stores. On 6 June 2011, King Abdullah decreed that women should work in lingerie stores instead of men.[2] The project received media attention around the world, including Swedish newspaper Expressen,[3] Radio New Zealand, New Straits Times,[4] The Star (Malaysia),[5] and Gold Coast Bulletin,[4] and was also described in the 2012 book Saudi Arabia on the Edge: The Uncertain Future of an American Ally, by Thomas Lippman.[6]

On 14 July 2009, Harlette obtained a patent for the world's first diamond and platinum garters.[7] Her lingerie collection debuted on the catwalk in Paris at the Salon International de la Lingerie, and the collection was invited to showcase at an Oscars style lounge in 2010.[8] The patented diamond suspenders and collection worn at this event by Shandi Finnessey were featured in Luxist.[9]

In August 2010, The Economic Times listed her company as the 5th most unique services company globally.[10]

Harlette's brand received two nominations for the 2011 and 2012 UK Lingerie Awards, and was nominated as a finalist for the New South Wales Premier Export Awards 2011 in Australia.[11]

In 2012 Harlette created a lingerie set incorporating South Sea Pearls.[12]

In the summer of 2013 Harlette debuted her first swim collection in Paris Mode City, and her one-piece design was picked for the Best of Show parade.[13]

In 2015 she had her first catwalk at the Caribbean International Swim Week on the island of Curaçao, and subsequently presented a preview of the pilot for her TV show IT Girl Lingerie, filmed in Curaçao, at MIPCOM in Cannes.[14][15] In 2016 she had a second catwalk in Curaçao.[16][17]

Harlette's collections have also been featured in the Wall St Journal, Hindustan Times, La Stampa,[18] CNN, NDTV,[19] Maxim UK,[20][21][22][23][24] and the Sydney Daily Telegraph.[25] Her costumes have been used in TV shows including Secret Diary of a Call Girl (2011).[26][27][28] and Britain's Next Big Thing.[29]
