Originally named IIM Bihar,^[2] IIM-BG was one of five Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) set up by the 2014 Union budget of India.^[3] The academic session for the first batch was inaugurated by HRD Minister, Smriti Irani on 31 August 2015.^[4]

In 2018, Dr. Vinita S. Sahay, professor of marketing at the Indian Institute of Management Raipur, was appointed by the Government of India as the first director of IIM Bodh Gaya. Dr. Vinita S. Sahay is only the second woman in the country to lead an IIM. Top leaders and industrialists like Uday Kotak (Chairperson & MD & CEO, Kotak Bank Ltd.), Janmajeya Sinha (Chairman, Boston Consulting Group India), Falguni S. Nayar (Founder & CEO, Nykaa.com) and many other eminent personalities constitute the Board of Governors of IIM Bodh Gaya.^[5]

IIM Bodh Gaya is located in the temple city of Bodh Gaya, the most sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhists. Bodh Gaya was once the center of learning in the known world and students came from as far as Central Asia, Mongolia, Korea, China, Afghanistan, and Iran to learn not only Buddhism but science, mathematics, administration, etc. IIM Bodhgaya has its own hostels, with all the necessary amenities for different sports like cricket, volleyball, football, table tennis, basketball, badminton, etc., and a fully equipped gymnasium.^[6]

The Prime Minister inaugurated various education and skill development projects at a cost of over Rs 13,300 crore at a function held in Jammu. In this series, he inaugurated Bodhgaya IIM online.^[7]

Startup Hub Incubation Center-INSPIRE edit

The IIMBG INSPIRE (IIM Bodh Gaya-Incubation Centre To Support Innovation Research And Entrepreneurship) was established in the IIM BG campus with the purpose of supporting entrepreneurial endeavors at IIM Bodh Gaya.^[8] It encourages students studying at IIM Bodh Gaya to make use of the incubation center. INSPIRE has played a pivotal role in incubating three campus startups initiated by IPM students of IIM Bodh Gaya, including Discorso, a podcast developed by students of Envision, Can3 on wheels, a fast food kiosk, and Drinks Exchange, a specialized kiosk offering a range of juices and shakes.^[9]

Academic programmes edit

Master of Business Administration (MBA) edit

The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is a two-year, regular, full-time residential program. Admission to the PGP course of IIM Bodh Gaya is conducted each year through the Common Admission Test (CAT). The PGP course consists of six trimesters spread over the two years. The first year constitutes the fundamental courses which lay the premises for various management roles. Between the first and second years, students are expected to go through an eight-week summer internship. The second-year constitutes the elective courses that provide diverse opportunities for students to study and specialize in their specific fields of interest.^[10]

IIM Bodh Gaya follows the same pedagogy of its previous mentor, the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.^[11]

Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) edit

The Integrated Programme in Management (IPM) is a five-year, full-time residential program that combines undergraduate and postgraduate management studies.^[12] Admission to the IPM course of IIM Bodh Gaya is based on the Joint Integrated Programme in Management Admission Test (JIPMAT) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and academic profile. The IPM course consists of six semesters (3 years) and six trimesters (2 years), dividing the program into two halves.^[12]

After the completion of the second year, students will have to undergo a compulsory Rural and Social Immersion internship.^[13] In the sixth semester, students are required to choose a sector-specific specialization. Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded the Bachelors of Business Management (BBM) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree by IIM Bodh Gaya. Additionally, candidates who opt to exit the program after completing the requirements of the first three years will be awarded the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree.^[13]

MBA (Digital Business Management) edit

The MBA in Digital Management is a two-year, full-time residential program offered by IIMBG.^[14] Admission to the program is conducted annually through the Common Admission Test (CAT). The curriculum is structured into six trimesters spread over the two years, with the first year focusing on fundamental courses. Students get the opportunity to participate in an optional 21-day immersive learning module at a foreign institute. Additionally, the program includes a 4-month intensive industry internship, where students actively engage in live project implementation.^[15]

MBA (Hospital & Healthcare Management) edit

The MBA in Hospital & Healthcare Management is a two-year, full-time residential program offered by IIM Bodh Gaya. Admission to the program is conducted annually through the Common Admission Test (CAT).^[16] The curriculum is structured into six terms over the two years, with the first year dedicated to core courses. In the second year, students can choose elective courses from two specialization tracks: "Hospital Management" and "Healthcare Management." At the end of the first year, students have the opportunity to engage in an industry immersion program lasting 4 months. Additionally, in the 5th term, students participate in a community project that involves conducting a field study to understand various public health issues and effectiveness of public health schemes run by the government.^[17]

Ph.D. Program In Management edit

The Doctoral Programme in Management at IIM Bodh Gaya is a 5-year full-time residential program offered by IIM Bodh Gaya. The program aims to train researchers, thinkers, and academic professionals in the field of management. It provides an opportunity for students to engage in multidisciplinary research within the domain of management education.^[18]

IIM Bodh Gaya is one of the top B-schools in India and has further strengthened its position through meaningful and mutually beneficial collaborations with different esteemed institutions around the globe. This step was taken with the intention of providing the students with a broader and better view of strategic development in the global era by responding effectively to rapid changes in the social, economic, legal, technological, cultural, and political environments.^[10] IIM Bodh Gaya has collaborated with ESC Clermont Graduate School of Management (France), Montpellier Business School (France), Alba Graduate Business School (Greece), SolBridge International School of Business (South Korea), Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración (Venezuela), the University of Florence (Italy), Universidad De Monterrey (UDEM, Mexico), and few more under process.

Clubs and committees edit

IIM Bodh Gaya's committees include Envision-Cell, Admissions Committee, Cultural Committee, Media & PR Committee, Academic Committee, IT Committee, Sports Committee, PGP Committee, Alumni Committee, Student Affairs Council, IPM Outreach Committee and Pragati: The Social Responsibility Committee.

The student clubs at IIM Bodh Gaya include Communicacion: The communications club, FINix: The finance club, MaSq: The marketing club, Strategy and Consulting club, OPSIM: The operations club.^[19]

Events edit

Throughout the year there are several events organized in the campus like futsal, cricket or table tennis tournaments by Sports Club, Village adoption program, and other social drives by Pragati, the CSR Club of IIM Bodh Gaya, different festivals like Onam, Christmas, Ganesh Puja, etc. by the Cultural Committee, Youth Entrepreneurship Summit by E-Cell, Annual Leadership Summit Netritva by Media & PR Cell, HR conclave Gyanodyaya by Placement Committee and last but not the least Elegante, flagship annual event of IIM Bodh Gaya organized in collaboration with all the committees and clubs.

Elegante edit

Started in the year 2016, Elegante is the annual management, sports, and cultural fest of IIM Bodh Gaya organized by the cultural committee in coordination with all the other clubs and committees. It is a two-day event filled with excitement, entertainment, and enjoyment from management quizzes and case study competitions to sports competitions to cultural events and fashion shows.^{[citation needed]}

Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (YES) edit

Youth Entrepreneurship Summit (YES) is the annual flagship event of Envision-the Entrepreneurship Committee of IIM Bodhgaya. This year, Envision organized its annual flagship event, the Youth Entrepreneurship Summit, in collaboration with Start-Up Bihar (Department of Industries, Govt of Bihar) and NABARD on the 4th and 5 March 2023. The event aimed to encourage entrepreneurship among the youth and provide a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their business ideas. Furthermore, as part of the event, in 2023 three campus startups initiated by IPM students of IIM Bodh Gaya were introduced, namely Discorso, a podcast created by students of Envision, Can3 on wheels, a fast food kiosk, and Drinks Exchange, a kiosk specializing in juices and shakes.^[20]

Fit India Movement edit

Initiated by the PM of India Mr. Narendra Modi, a blood donation camp was organized by the Pragati Club of IIM Bodh Gaya in association with Magadh Medical College, Gaya. More than 100 members including students and faculty donated blood to support the cause along with a 10 km marathon for creating awareness by showing a great deal of enthusiasm for the greater good.

Netritva edit

IIM Bodh Gaya organized its maiden leadership summit Netritva in 2019. It hosted personalities like Rajeev Bhaduria (Managing Partner- Ebullient), Rakesh Singhania (CFO- Wellsfargo), Gaurav Sangtani (President - Jigyasa Foundation), Amita Karadkhedkar (VP- Citi) and several other top industrialists and leaders.^{[citation needed]}

ज्ञानोदय (Gyanodaya) edit

Started in the year 2018, Gyanodaya is the annual HR conclave of IIM Bodh Gaya. It provides a platform where corporate leaders share their valuable thoughts and changing economic constraints with the students. The theme for the 2019 conclave was "Changing HR trends in the modern world" which witnessed the presence of eminent and distinguished HRs and leaders from the corporate world.

IIM Bodhgaya was ranked 53rd among business/management schools in India by National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) in 2023^[22]
