Dual citizenship is prohibited under the Kazakhstani nationality law, and is grounds for refusal of nationality.[1]
The law in Kazakhstan follows the principles of jus sanguinis. Birth to one Kazakh parent is permitted.
Naturalisation procedure in Kazakhstan is 5 years of residence.[1] However, this is reduced to 3 years of residency in the case of marriage to a Kazakh citizen.
In 2017, a new law was enacted to authorise the government to revoke nationality on the basis of terrorist or security based threats to the country[2]
