Margown

Summary

Margown (Persian: مارگون; also Romanized as Mārgown and Māregūn; also known as Mārjān and Mārkān)[3] is a city in the Central District of Margown County, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] The city is also the administrative center for Margown Rural District.[5]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 2,538 in 497 households, when it was in the former Margown District of Boyer-Ahmad County.[6] The following census in 2011 counted 2,706 people in 666 households.[7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 3,135 people in 797 households.[2]

In October 2018, the district was separated from the county in the establishment of Margown County, with the city of Margown as its capital.[4]
