Marivan (Persian: مريوان and Kurdish: مەریوان ), also known as Mariwan and Qale Marīvān—"Fort Marivan"; formerly, Dezhe Shahpur (Persian: دِژ شاپور); also Romanized as Dezhe Shāhpūr and Dezhe Shapoor, ⓘ[3] is a city in the Central District of Marivan County, Kurdistan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the county and the district.[4] The people of Marivan speak Kurdish.[5]
