Meydan Chay Rural District (Persian: دهستان ميدان چائ)[3] is in Basmenj District of Tabriz County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran.[4] Its capital is the village of Nematabad,[5] transferred from Kond Rud.[6]

At the National Census of 2006, its population was 51,733 in 13,066 households, when it was a part of the Central District.[7] There were 56,199 inhabitants in 16,365 households at the following census of 2011.[8] At the most recent census of 2016, the population of the rural district was 56,677 in 17,411 households. The most populous of its 23 villages was Kond Rud, with 8,518 people.[2]
In August 2021, the rural district and the city of Basmenj were separated from the district in the establishment of Basmenj District.[4]
