NetIQ is a product line within the CyberRes line of business at OpenText, which includes solutions focused on cybersecurity, including ArcSight, Fortify, Voltage, and NetIQ.[1][2]
OpenText has owned NetIQ since 2023 after its acquisition of Micro Focus, which acquired The Attachmate Group, which acquired NetIQ in 2006,[3] six years after the latter acquired Mission Critical Software.[4][5]
Historyedit
NetIQ was founded by Ching-fa Hwang, Her-daw Che, Hon Wong, Ken Prayoon Cheng and Tom Kemp in September 1995;[6]AppManager was introduced in 1996.[7] Their February 2000 merger with Mission Critical Software[4] widened the company's focus to include systems management as well as performance.[8][9]
In 2001, NetIQ acquired Webtrends, whose software "monitors corporate Internet traffic."[10][11] — which they sold in 2005.[12]
In 2006, NetIQ was acquired by AttachmateWRQ,[13] After that company acquired Novell in 2011,[14] it changed its name to The Attachmate Group. NetIQ added identity and security products as well as data center and virtualization[15] to their offerings. It was the Attachmate acquisition that led to the alignment of NetIQ products into three categories:[16]
In 2014, The Attachmate Group was merged into Micro Focus International.[18] NetIQ also announced the use of an Identity Manager number 4.5.[19] This new technology released helps managers to be more productive in different environments.[20]
NetIQ's implementation of Identity Management software. It utilizes XML-based configuration files to determine the product's implemented functions.[23][24]
