Summary

Palangan (Persian: پالنگان, Palangān; Kurdish: پاڵنگان), also known as Patagān, Patakān, and Tangān,[1] is a Kurdish village in Kurdistan Province, Iran. Its population was 821, with 194 families, in the 2006 Iranian census.[2] There is a site near the village that contains the ruins of an ancient fort.[3][4] Residents speak the endangered Hawrami dialect of the Gorani language.[5] The village dates back to pre-Islamic times and was an administrative center in the Principality of Ardalan.
