It is the country's first Bangla search engine developed by the Computer Science and Engineering students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology as a thesis project.[1]
In 2018, Pipilika was accused of being a deceptive project. The co-founders of Pipilika, Burhan and Chisty, alleged that Dr. Ruhul Amin Shajib had stolen credit for the search engine's creation. They claimed that Shajib had deceived the public for nearly a decade and presented evidence to support their claims.[4]
It was shutdown in 2021.
