Sharlyksky District (Russian: Шарлыкский райо́н) is an administrative[1] and municipal[6] district (raion), one of the thirty-five in Orenburg Oblast, Russia. It is located in the northwest of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,900 square kilometers (1,100 sq mi).[3] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Sharlyk.[2] Population: 18,032 (2010 Census);[4]22,128 (2002 Census);[8] 23,797 (1989 Census).[9] The population of Sharlyk accounts for 42.0% of the total district's population.[4]
