Summary
The Type 997 Artisan (Advanced Radar Target Indication Situational Awareness and Navigation) is a medium-range air and surface surveillance phased array 3D radar developed and built by BAE Systems for the United Kingdom's Royal Navy. It has been fitted to all 13 Type 23 frigates, HMS Ocean, HMS Bulwark, HMS Albion, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.[1]
The Type 997 Artisan has a range of 200 m – 200 km (110 nmi) at 30 RPM and is reportedly capable of tracking more than 900 targets at once. BAE Systems state that Artisan is capable of tracking targets the size of small birds or tennis balls travelling at Mach 3 with "unrivalled detection performance and world beating electronic protection measures against even the most complex jammers".[2][3]
Brazil became the second country to operate the radar, with the purchase of LPH NAM Atlântico from Royal Navy in 2018.

United Kingdom - Used on the 10 Type 23 Frigate and 8 Type 26 Frigates, the now retired amphibious assault ship HMS Ocean, the Amphibious transport docks HMS Bulwark and HMS Albion, and aircraft carriers HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales.
Chile - Used on its 3 Type 23 Frigates acquired from UK.
Taiwan - Will be used on a new family of light frigates[5]
