Summary
Ulakkai Aruvi (also referred to as Rod Falls)[1] is a waterfall on the Western Ghats. This area is in the Asambu reserve forest, in Kanyakumari District, Tamil Nadu.

Ulakkai Aruvi Falls is about 39 km (24 mi) from Kanyakumari and about 19 km (12 mi) from Nagercoil, near Azhagiapandiapuram. The falls are in the forested hills of the Western Ghats), and are accessible by an hour-long trek from the base of the hills through a rocky, forested area. There are two falls: one is lower and the other is higher. The falls are fed by the Ulakkai, a spring originating from the nearby Anamalai Hills.[2]
According to legend, the Ulakkai Aruvi water is believed to possess rejuvenating powers. This makes the falls popular spots for tourists. The falls are accessible only by foot.

The falls, located within the Western Ghats, are reachable solely by foot. The village of Perunthalaikadu serves as the nearest road point, with buses plying from Nagercoil town to Azhagiapandipuram. From there, Ulakkai Aruvi is reachable by a 2 km trek.
A popular time to visit Ulakkai Aruvi is just after the monsoon season when the falls are at their fullest.[3]
