Yelansky District (Russian: Еланский райо́н) is an administrative[1] district (raion), one of the thirty-three in Volgograd Oblast, Russia. As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Yelansky Municipal District.[7] It is located in the north of the oblast. The area of the district is 2,672 square kilometers (1,032 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Yelan.[2] Population: 33,064 (2010 Census);[4] 36,212 (2002 Census);[9] 36,293 (1989 Census).[10] The population of Yelan accounts for 44.9% of the district's total population.[4]
