Blizzard restart the server layering to help reduce the server load in WoW Classic

Due to influx of activity and server queues, Blizzard is considering bringing server layering back to World of Warcraft Classic, which also proves that Classic is wildly popular. In recent updates, the PVP scene dominates, a large number of players poured into the Classic servers with more and more players stayed at home to play games, resulting in long queue time, with this in mind, Blizzard has to restart the server layering to help reduce the server load and get players logged in more quickly.

“The circumstances of the last few weeks have led to an unexpected increase in both the numbers of players that have been playing WoW Classic, as well as the length of their play sessions,” said Blizzard. “This has caused some of the most-popular realms to see queues again. While free character moves can act as a relief valve for players who just want to play a particular character regardless of the realm it’s on, that’s not the only tool in our belt. It is possible to temporarily raise the population cap on a given realm by turning layering back on.” And if you want to buy World of Warcraft Classic Gold, visit z2u.com, a professional online in-game currency store.

Whether or not server layering is a good idea may largely depend on how long the current social distancing best practices stay in place. If the workforce returns to normal in May, this may be a non-issue, but if gamers continue finding themselves stuck at home throughout the early summer, it does seem like a solution to the problem will be necessary. Either way, it will be interesting to see how the community responds to the idea and how Blizzard decides to move forward.

On the other end of the spectrum, many people have expressed concern that layering a realm into multiple instances at one time would be disruptive to its economy. In WoW Classic, unlike retail WoW, farming raw materials in the open world was significantly more important. And with no WoW token that can be purchased in-game to increase a person’s buying power with real-life money, open-world farming has more importance.
