This was the first time that the UK Championship was sponsored by Pukka Pies.[1] Shaun Murphy was the defending champion but he lost 3–9 to Ding Junhui in the Last 16. Ding won the tournament for his second UK title, beating John Higgins 10–8 in the final .[2]
