Microsoft Collaborates with Thales to Build a Defense Cloud Suite for Armed Forces

Governments and defense forces are increasingly relying on technology for various functions such as enhancing public infrastructure and engaging with citizens. Data integration software solutions in government and defense help these institutions to efficiently gear toward economic development and boost the population’s quality of life. In today’s digital age, data is a critical asset for government and defense organizations. Different government and defense departments make use of different data sets as per their objectives. This creates variations owing to different storage modes, data standards, levels of documentation, and organization methods. Data integration solutions would be able to enhance data quality, facilitate data governance, and maintain the integrity of sensitive government and defense data.

Microsoft Corporation is a globally-recognized technology enterprise that develops, licenses, manufactures, sells, and supports computer software, personal computers, consumer electronics, and related solutions. It is classified as a visionary leader on the 360Quadrants platform. Visionary leaders are recognized for their robust data integration solutions and powerful business strategies.

Recently, Microsoft has partnered with the Thales Group to create a defense cloud solution. With the increasing digitalization of armed forces across the globe, this partnership will help Thales make use of the tech giant's Azure Stack to create a viable solution for data integration. The two multinationals aim to build a flexible cloud application platform that provides advanced functionalities not currently provided by defense cloud services. The solution will enhance the storage, management, and analysis of large quantities of data for real-time intelligence collection and other important wartime and peacetime applications.

Microsoft's Azure Stack is a cloud computing solution that delivers on-premise Azure services. Thales will leverage Azure Stack as the baseline system for this entire operation, enabling fluid integration with Thales's encryption and cybersecurity solutions. This solution will also guarantee the safety of sensitive information, both on the field and at the headquarters. Each integrated system will be designed with offline capabilities due to the different environmental conditions that its users will operate in. Since Microsoft began shipping its Azure Stack integrated systems, several organizations have leveraged it for a range of useful applications. Keeping the vast scope of the Azure cloud platform in mind, Thales hopes that this solution will be a massive step in presenting the defense sector with maximum flexibility as well as maximum security.
