Colin Kaepernick’s grievance filed against the NFL is as misguided as his taking a knee during the national anthem. The former 49ers quarterback filed a grievance against the NFL on Sunday, alleging that he remains unsigned as a result of collusion by owners following his protests during the national anthem.
If that’s true, I personally applaud the league’s decision to do so. But I have to think the reason he hasn’t been signed and isn’t playing so far this year is his poor performance as a quarterback in the last 4 seasons.
Kaepernick’s QB rating dropped every year since he began in the position. His quality of play, his decision making skills and his manner have all suffered. If there’s collusion going on it is with respect to his play on the field—and the embarrassment he brought to his team and the league while on the sidelines!
I appreciate that African-Americans have every reason to be upset. I would be just as angry. But Kaepernick's choice of protest to show his displeasure over racial inequity was inappropriate, misdirected, divisive and, ultimately, injurious to the league and the fans.

one of Kaepernick's attorneys, said in a statement posted on Twitter on Sunday
that he filed the grievance "only after pursuing every possible avenue
with all NFL teams and their executives."
Instead of blaming the league
managers of collusion, he should look in the mirror and examine his own lagging
quality of play. There’s no doubt he has the athleticism, but he hasn’t
demonstrated the level of play to be attractive to any professional teams.
The NFL players' union said it would support the grievance, which was filed through the arbitration system that's part of the league's collective bargaining agreement.
