Web Marketing - WordPress Help

WordPress has almost become the standard platform for the Internet. Many websites are using this free easy-to-use software and it is growing with more websites every day. But because it's easy to use, sometimes you need the help of WordPress to do the things you want or need on your website.

There are many hidden gems within WordPress itself that most people don't even know they have. One of them is the little "Help" section in the upper right corner of every screen in the WordPress administrator. It's so pale and gray that most people don't notice it. Clicking this will bring up a variety of help features for the particular page you're on, with tips on how to get the most out of that page.

When you use the WordPress Help tab, you will be presented with things that most people don't know can do. For example, the All Posts page has a help item called Group Actions. With this function you can select multiple posts and then "edit" or "delete" them.

With the bulk edit function, you can "quickly edit" multiple posts at the same time. After selecting the posts you want to edit and then clicking Apply, you can categorize them, add tags, allow or disable comments and pings, post or cancel them, and more. This can be a very useful feature.

Mass deletion can also be very useful. And don't worry, once you hit delete (actually move to trash) and then hit apply, the posts won't go away, they land in the trash and you can still access them from the link at the top of the page.

Another thing most people don't know is that it's right next to the WordPress help area in the top right corner of almost every admin screen: "Screen Options." Below this section is a list of everything that can be seen on this screen, and often a few others that you can customize. For example, when you click Options on the Add New Post screen, you'll see some items that are enabled by default (such as formats, categories, and labels). Which plugins do you load, some are different, some are tested, some are not. If you want to know what unconfirmed people are doing, check this out and then scroll down the page. After checking, you will see the below features. You can then decide whether you want to use it or not.

Also, there are often things on the page that appear by default that you never use and just get in the way of. This is one way to hide it. If you decide to continue, just go back to "Screen Options" and check again!

With each new version of WordPress, they offer you more help in using this powerful platform.
