How Much Cheaper Is It To Buy Snacks From the Store Rather Than The Movie Theater?

One of my favorite parts about going to the movie theater is picking out a delicious snack. The downfall, of course, is the outrageous price that is usually comes along with it. Many memes have circulated scoffing at the ridiculous amount of money you end up spending at the concession stand. They are right to laugh at the prices, but just how much more expensive is it to buy from the theater rather than the store?

Using Target as a store reference, you can purchase a pack of skittles for about $.80. At most movie theaters you will spend between $3.00-$4.00 for one pack of candy. At AMC, a pack of candy will range from $3.99-$4.49. This is substantially more expensive than an $.80 pack of skittles that is the same size. For the most part this is common knowledge how pricy it is but it is almost ridiculous when you look at it on paper. Movie theaters of course have to mark up their prices to make an actual profit,  but there is a point where it's excessive. Moral of the story is, buy your snacks from the store! Your wallet will thank you.
