IBM Cloud enables Japan's Fukui Bank to transform its business operations

The BFSI (banking, financial services, and insurance) vertical is data-intensive and handles significant volumes of customer data. Banks hold data that is dynamic in nature, such as customers’ contact details. Traditionally, such data is stored in systems that are not interconnected. Data integration software solutions in BFSI help to integrate this isolated data from all their systems, get a bird’s-eye view of customers and prospects, provide their clients with customized banking/financial services, and achieve operational success.

International Business Machines Corporation, popularly known as IBM, is a global information technology company with operations in more than 170 countries. It is recognized by 360Quadrants as a visionary leader for its effective data integration services and strong business strategies. Visionary leaders on the 360Quadrants platform, including IBM, bolster their market presence through industry-standard solutions.

Recently, IBM entered into an agreement with Japan-based Fukui Bank. As per the terms of this agreement, IBM will help Fukui Bank migrate its distributed processing system to IBM Cloud. This migration will enable Fukui Bank to undergo operational transformation with an aim of addressing customer needs while supporting local community development. Fukui Bank is also revolutionizing its managerial environment and hence relies on IBM for a flexible IT environment that does not compromise on operational security.

Through IBM Cloud’s framework, applications in a virtual environment can be migrated on an ‘as is’ basis. This will allow Fukui Bank to create a cloud environment swiftly. As Fukui Bank migrates data and applications to the cloud, it will also make use of IBM Cloud Migration Factory to undertake a multi-pronged approach and re-host, re-architect, re-platform, and modernize its digital infrastructure. IBM Cloud Migration Factory leverages automation and other tools to reduce the bank’s migration costs and time.

Fukui Bank’s core banking system, as well as several hundred of its other distributed systems, have been built across its branches and offices for their individual operations. The bank is taking advantage of IBM Cloud to amalgamate these distributed processing systems and has plans to migrate vital workloads through IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions. This will enable Fukui Bank to efficiently migrate its operations to the cloud without changing existing tools or processes or altering the level of control or security. The bank will also have the ability to use IBM Cloud for building an entirely native next-generation virtual infrastructure environment, which will allow the bank to easily increase cloud usage and hybrid cloud adoption in the future.

360Quadrants also lists competitors of IBM in the Data Integration software in BFSI space.
