Essential Traits for Success #4

So far we’ve looked at the first two of three essential traits for success:

  1. Passion. Passion comes from powerful, compelling emotions building into inescapable action. When we believe so strongly we can’t help but act, that’s passion.

  2. Perseverance. Perseverance is steady persistence in a course of action or purpose especially in spite of difficulties, obstacles or discouragement.

The third Essential Trait is: HARD WORK

No definition is necessary. Hard work is the embodiment of both passion and perseverance; the outer physical manifestation of an inner drive. Babe Ruth said, “It’s hard to beat a person who never gives up.” Michelangelo said, “If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all.”

Hard work means not shying away from the mundane physical and mental “chores” required over weeks, months or even years before we become an overnight success. Hard work is where determination and grit surpass natural ability and talent. Where those who want it the most, get the most, and those who don’t are left with the scraps success leaves behind.

The trifecta of success is identified in these three critical Essential traits – Passion, Perseverance and Hard Work; where workaholics are really work-a-frolics. Because when you find something you enjoy and are passionate about, you’ll never work another day in your life.
