Yu Gong Yi Shan story, as told to me.
In old China, an Emperor wanted a mountain moved. He hired the smartest engineers of the time to plan how to move it. All the ideas were good but no one could agree, the cost of the project was to much for the Emperor. An old farmer living near the mountain came to the site and had a plan. He walked over to the bottom of the mountain and picked up one stone, moved it and picked up another. Yu Gong said the mountain is not growing and has a set number of stones. Just move one stone at a time and soon the mountain will be gone.
I have used this thinking in every crazy project I have done, it works. Not unlike the saying, “ To walk a 1000 miles, begins with one step”.
Do not think to deep about how to get to the end, focus on the beginning.
