Importance of Financial Classes

The knowledge of how to handle money and manage finances is one that is not common when one is brought up through the education system. Although it is vital to know, it seems as though it does not get stressed as much as other topics. The financial management class that I took in college was very helpful and informational. Some of the concepts and material are too advanced for high school but there should definitely be a class similar to mine for the high school level. Sometimes this information can even be helpful to the parents of the students.

This type of information, if taught early enough, can help put individuals in good places to be financially comfortable in their futures. Some of the material that is taught might seem very intimidating to the those that are not familiar with it; however, with the right guidance, one can easily learn and take control of their financial situation.

A specific topic I enjoyed and found very helpful was compounding interest. If you start investing money at an earlier age into an account that compounds your money, it will produce more money than if you started later but invested more money. The difference could potentially be in the hundreds of thousands just by simply starting a few years earlier. This among other information is why I believe financial classes are crucial in the academic system before college.
