Everyone who wants to perform at their peak abilities looks for ways to make that goal more accessible. We look for cues on how we can enhance the key characteristics that will assure success in our personal lives and professional careers. We know that by presenting confidence and assurance we will be perceived as someone in control of ourselves and our career objectives.
So what are the key characteristics we should be striving for? Today I’ll share the first of four ingredients that, in my opinion, are essential to our success in ascending to the PEAK of our abilities. The first key ingredient to P.E.A.K. performance is: P – for PASSION!
Passion for life, for what you pursue, for who you are and what you bring to the table. Passion for who we are and what we do should drive us toward our every purpose. Passion in our play, in our work and in our life purpose is what draws others to us and keeps us going in the face of adversity or obstacles.
The more passionate you are about your pursuits, the deeper your belief will be in self. The more passionate you are about your abilities and what your talent can provide, the greater your effectiveness will be. You’ll have greater success and others will catch the fire of your belief and be more apt to see you as a strong personality; as a leader they can trust. Your passion for who you are becomes contagious. As your passion deepens, you will naturally draw others to you. Think of your passion as a pathogen of positivity infecting everyone around you.
One caution: Passion is not pride. Passion is not about personal gain through self-promotion. Passion is having a personal fire that burns from within, reaching out to draw in and positively impact those around you. Its purpose is to further the cause you and others are committed to. Leading with your heart, being passionate about the power you bring, is what capacitates change in your work and living environments. That’s the personal passion you should be seeking and adopting for yourself.
