Is MCIOB equivalent to a degree?

MCIOB is a Chartered Member qualification from a recognised institute the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB). The qualification is a globally recognised one, which helps individuals to obtain a professional level in construction management. The Chartered Institute of Building’s MCIOB qualification is comparable to a bachelor’s degree level under the Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF). The benchmarked qualification study focuses on the learning outcomes of the Professional Review the final stage assessment to become an MCIOB. The MCIOB grade is comparable to a Level 6 qualification under the RQF. The CIOB addressed this by benchmarking the CIOB qualification against the competency and educational standards in the UK and internationally, it can increase the recognition for the MCIOB and FCIOB qualification across the world. Possessing a CIOB qualification in the industry indicates professionalism in the field. The MCIOB qualification is not the only recognised qualification which is covered by the RQF. The RQF regulates the CIOB Level 4 Diploma in SiteManagementand is a recognised qualification to advance in the MCIOB qualification.

Advancing to the Membership Qualification

There are many different routes to obtain the MCIOB qualification through the Chartered Institute of Building. The Chartered Membership Programme (CMP), the Professional Development Programme (PDP) and the Professional Review (PR). The Chartered Membership Programme is a Level6 course covering the fundamental knowledge necessary to prove competency in the construction management industry. The course provides four modules which highlight the areas such as Construction Technology, Management, Contracts and Commercial Practices and Health, Safety and the Environment. If a candidate possesses at least five years of experience but not the highest qualification such as the NVQ level 7, then the Chartered Membership Programme is a suitable route to proceed in obtaining the MCIOB qualification. The CIOB approves the membership programme course to online colleges, institutes and other centres all around the world so that students can access the education with a flexible environment.
