The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall of hummus products sold by the Sabra Dipping Company, LLC on March 29, 2021, due to potential salmonella contamination.
In their recall announcement, the company stated that the potentially contaminated products were distributed to 16 different states: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Indiana, Mississippi, Maine, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, New Jersey, Utah, Virginia, Washington and, Wisconsin.
Consumers who purchased the contaminated hummus products are advised to dispose of them or return them to the place of purchase as soon as they are able to. Salmonella is a highly contagious bacterium that can cause an infection known as salmonellosis. Those who contract salmonellosis normally begin to experience symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and fever, as early as 12 hours after the ingestion of the contaminated with salmonella.
