The Chinese Dragon Boat Festival is a significant holiday celebrated in China on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese lunar calendar, and the one with the longest history. The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated by boat races in the shape of dragons. Competing teams row their boats forward to a drumbeat racing to reach the finish end first.

People eat Zong Zi this day. It represents it can avoid the fish eating the body of hero poet Qu Yuan. Qu Yuan is a respected man in China. He can’t achieve his political ambitions, he finally drown himself into the Miluo River to show his indignation and loyalty.

Zong Zi is made by glutinous rice, jujube, sweetened bean paste and so on, packed by bamboo leaves. Some people make it with meat and salted duck egg.

The dragon-boat races symbolize the attempts to the rescue and recover Qu's body. The competition always held in the southern China because there are a lot of rivers. People boat as quickly as possible together to win the first prize. This competition needs both strength and wisdom.

Nowadays, people from all over the world celebrate The Dragon Boat Festival. We should protect our Chinese nation's traditional culture and spread it all over the world. Since 2007, it is national holiday in China.
