Under the terms of a new "hate content and hateful conduct" policy announced this Thursday, Spotify will no longer promote R. Kelly's music on any of the streaming service's editorial or algorithmic playlists — including influential playlists like RapCaviar and Discover Weekly. Spotify has decided to also remove Florida rapper XXXTentacion. Over the past several years, R. Kelly has faced lawsuits and reports alleging sexual coercion and abuse of young girls and women — he has denied each of the accusations. Spotify's decision started another debate over who qualified for the ban, The New York Times reports. In a statement, the Swedish company acknowledges that it cannot police everything, and has introduced a "three-pronged reporting system for hate content or hateful conduct."
