Mick's Exterminating is Now Hiring!

The unexpected virus outbreak has happened just as exterminators were starting to recover from the past year’s high demand. A new business is opening to deal with the increase in requests and to prevent the possible spread of the virus even further. The number of pest control requests in the St. Louis area increased from about 1,000 in early January to more than 3,000 by mid-March. The majority came from surrounding counties and neighboring Missouri cities.
“This is going to be very different from the last couple of years,” says Morejon. While Mick’s Exterminating will focus on St. Louis County now, they’ll target surrounding counties in the future if the need arises. The business operates both from their truck and from their mobile unit that is stationed and are near a St. Charles exterminator.

In late March, Morejon purchased three low-end weed whackers to deal with stubborn weeds in and around St. Louis. The whackers are not customized, and people can order them online. He expects to have them delivered by early April. He says they’ll go door-to-door taking care of plants which in itself is a new experience for them.
“This, unfortunately, is the path we’re on,” says Morejon. “I also had a couple of friends who were contracting Covid at their homes, and I knew they’d get tested sooner rather than later because it’s in the community. This is a new situation, so we’re trying to do what we can and do what we can quickly.”
Mick’s Exterminating will likely focus on removing vines from houses in the future.
“Having something that is available will help people feel more comfortable to bring their concerns and yes, they will receive better answers,” confirms Morejon. “Although we’ve been an exterminator for 30 years, this is something new for me, so I’m hopefully going to learn and get better.”
