acceptance

The first stage of grief is supposed to be acceptance. Acceptance in grief is about accepting what has happened and moving on from it. It’s about learning how to live in a new reality with the past and how to make the best of it. It literally accepts that what happened, happened and that there is no going back. Whether it be grief of a loss or of something that happened, acceptance sucks. I believe that it’s the hardest stage because it means letting go of avoidance and means having to live with what happened. It’s about then taking the steps to move forward to getting help if needed.
