Digital Initiatives of Indian Railways:
Indian Railways covers 7,349 stations via its strong transport
network. Around 20 million people travel regularly by train. Digitization in
Indian Railways allows passengers’ to search trains between two particular
stations to get an idea on the number of trains along with their schedules. This
information helps the travelers to book tickets immediately for any route on an
urgent basis in a specific train.
Where can we check the trains between
stations online?
To check trains between stations you can download RailMitra mobile application or visit on its official website. After
installation, click on “Trains B/W Stations” where you will be asked to enter
your boarding station from where you have to start your journey destination station where you
left the train and date on which you would like to travel. After clicking on
“check trains” you’ll get a list of trains with some important key information.
Details of Train between Stations Inquiry:
When you search trains between two particular stations, the list of trains
contains following information:
Name of boarding and destination stations along with station
codes
Date of journey
Name of Trains
Train number
Time of arrival and departure at your boarding/departure station
Distance between your boarding and destination station
Time taken by trains from your boarding to destination station.
You can click any one of that trains to check its schedule. If
you’re looking for trains between Patna (PNBE) to New Delhi (NDLS) on a
specific date, you’ll get a list of trains on your screen. Among of those
trains; if you select HWH NDLS DURONTO with train number 12273 which departs
from PNBE at 16:30 and reaches NDLS at 06:25; then you need to click on the
name of the train. It will display the schedule of DURONTO Express like the day
it runs, classes available in this train, name of halt stations with estimate
arrival and departure timing, halt duration, distance covered and day when it
reaches at those halts.
From this section, there is an option to track train running
status by click on the option “View Train Running Status”, by
clicking on “New Train Search”; you can check another train’s schedule or
you can book your food by “Book Food" option. By clicking on “View Train Running Status”,
displays the live running of DURONTO Express along with its ETA/ETD. “New Train Search” provides you to check another
train’s schedule along with its halt stations and ETA/ETD. On “Book Food”, you’re asked to order your food
via entering PNR number or train number along with boarding station. After
filling these details you will get the list of restaurants for your upcoming
stations. You can select food items of your choice from the restaurants
available and place your order. Your food will be delivered to your seat.
Note: - In some cities, there
are more than one stations. Do not confuse! RailMitra app shows only those
trains which starts or departs from your boarding station to destination
station along with the list of trains which halts on another stations present

New Delhi to
Mumbai: Distance between New Delhi to Mumbai via train is 1357 km depending
upon the route of trains covered within 16 hours to 31 hours. It is the busiest
train route of our country. 35 trains are available between these stations
among which Haridwar – Mumbai Lokmanya Tilak AC Express and Hazrat Nizamuddin –
Thiruvananthpuram Central Superfast Express are the most popular.
Howrah to Puri:
Distance between Howrah and Puri is 494 kms which is covered in 7 to 10 hours. There
are 13 trains that run between this route in which Dhauli Express and Kamakhaya
– Puri Express are the most preferred one.
Patna to New Delhi: There’s a list of 20 trains that runs between these two cities. New Delhi Rajdhani is the premium train which takes shortest time covering 998 km in 12 hours where Farakka Express is slowest train that runs 1,060 km having stops in Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh.
