Oh that nervous feeling, good for your focus.
I get a nervous feeling before I do certain tasks. It could be before you get on a plane, going off to a new place, driving on the freeway. For me it was certain emergency calls I would go on. Children not breathing were at the top of the list, along with car accidents, and shootings. That nervous feeling would give me the edge to focus on the job at hand. For me, training and team work would always take over to complete the mission.
Then the rush, “It’s over” good job.
So now here I am getting ready to take 11 people across 3 miles of ocean, in small kayaks, for a fun filled afternoon. It is that same nervous feeling before we get started, all the things I have to remember, what the conditions are like and how experienced the group really is. So for me, with out that feeling, I would not have my edge, my focus.
The time you think that “this is easy, no problem”, “Shit happens”. They say a journey can be a wonderful experience, but an adventure is when simple things start going bad.
I am looking forward to the end of the day, our wonderful home, glass of wine, sunset, reflect, job well done, and let’s do it again tomorrow.
