Winx Club

One of my fondest memories of my childhood is waking up early on Saturday mornings to tune into the now dead network ‘4Kids’ to watch the Italian cartoon Winx Club. Winx Club has become a global phenomenon since its original release on Rainbow, an Italian network. There are various versions of Winx Club due to different networks dubbing them differently. Each dub maintains the same core storyline but tweaks it their own ways. 

My favorite character growing up was Bloom, the main protagonist of the show, honestly probably just because she was the first character introduced and I didn’t know any better growing up. Her story is similar to Harry Potter, but instead, she is adopted and doesn’t find out until she’s 16 years old. And she’s a fairy, not a wizard. Her parents are humans living completely normal lives and her school, Alfea, is the fairy version of Hogwartz. 

Winx Club has been dubbed and re-broadcasted on various networks besides 4Kids, including Nickelodeon. Netflix announced that they are planning to produce and release a live-action version of the show as well. This new adaption excites me and other longterm Winx Club fans as well.
