National Stress Awareness day is a very important day to recognize. It’s one of the days in the year were we need to sit down and focus on how we ourselves are doing mentally, physically and emotionally. Stress can impact our lives in unimaginable ways. So as a human being go ask what you can do for your friend or family member to help with their stress. Ask them how they are truly feeling. Coming from someone who tends to stress about every facet of my life, it takes a tremendous toll on me and my state of mind. When someone asks who is the most important person in a room filled with other people, the answer should always be yourself. You need to be able to take care of yourself before you can ever think of helping anyone else. It is like that whole airplane protocol, you need to put the mask on yourself (how selfish right?) and then put the masks on your children or others who are struggling. It’s the smart way to save yourself and others, so take control yourself and find a way to admit you have stress and figure out a few ways to take it off your mind or a way to minimize the stress load. Some examples are: don’t take on more responsibility than you can handle (it is more than okay to let go or certain things that cause you unneeded stress), talk to someone you trust about how you feel, start a hobby that can help you take your mind off stress, be physically active (and in no world do I mean become a gym freak, just go for a walk or play a sport). There are many options on what you can do to manage your stress levels, if you think of any more ways please feel free to share them in the comments and hopefully some of them will work for other people. Take the step and begin to free yourself of stress and the negativity that you have in your life, trust me it saved me in more ways than one.
