Business holds a central position in today’s world, Business is always referred to as an activity that is for profit. Majority of people think that business is all about money; in fact they are right about it from their perspective. I am going to analyse about how Businesses can have kingdom impact and serve the community. I am relating this topic with God’s greatest commandment from Matthew 22, which talks about loving God and loving your neighbors.
God has purpose for each and every business and companies. I am going to discuss some of the ways how God provides us opportunity to have Kingdom impact through business. First as an owner of business, being an owner there are several opportunities to glorify God, but at the same time there are many temptations to sin as well. It is very important being an owner to take care of his possession in a right way, when we take care of our possession in a way God wants us, then we make him pleased through our work. Second This is the reason why God created us to be productive in a way to fulfill needs of the people by being useful. Third is by hiring an employee and giving him an opportunity to fulfill his and his family’s basic needs can prove to be a great way to glorify God. To pay someone for his or her hard work is a great way to encourage the person and motivate him to work even harder. Paul talks in book of Colossians, that masters should be fair with their slaves and should give them the reward they deserve and should not exploit them. In the same way businessman should not exploit their workers, but should be good to them in deeds.
Businesses and company should be lead in a Christ centered way and follow his teachings. The real secret to leading like Jesus is found in Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” Jesus is very clear about the way he wants Businessman to lead his company or business, he wants them to be a servant leader that could bring change in world. Jesus wants people to follow him and do their action which depicts servant leadership. Another quality of godly leaders is in a way they face criticism and respond with humility. Often when leaders face criticism in today’s marketplace, they either quit or start working with lack of enthusiasm and passion. King David learned his leadership roles inspired from the Lord. If we trust God during the criticism and hardships as a leader, he is going to bring us out of the problems and give us peace.
