Audi CEO Arrested

Audi’s CEO was arrested and jailed Monday by German authorities, reports The New York Times. Rupert Stadler, who also sits on the Volkswagen (Audi’s parent company) board, was placed “in investigative detention,” according to Audi, in connection with Volkswagen’s emissions-cheating scandal. Volkswagen and Audi were accused three years ago of placing devices in their diesel cars to cheat emissions tests, resulting in hundreds of thousands of cars recalled globally. Stadler, “the highest-ranking Volkswagen executive still in his job to have been identified as a suspect,” per the Times, will be questioned Wednesday, said the BBC.
