When you move into a new apartment, hopefully
you will take good care of it and not cause any damage or other problems to it
along the way. You will follow the rules, pay the rent on time, and be a model
tenant while you are there. As long as you are able to do this, you will find
that you will never face an eviction or have to worry about that process at
all. However, some people do not follow the rules or end up not paying rent and
this can lead the landlord to making some tough decisions.
An eviction is going to happen when a landlord
is going to force you as the tenant to leave the property. You have decided to
stay and they are going to use some of the legal methods that are available to
them to get you to leave as soon as possible. There are a lot of ways that a
tenant can be evicted from an apartment such as failure to pay the rent,
staying inside the building past the end of their lease (if it was not
renewed), and having a pet when the building does not allow it.
The landlord will typically not just jump to an
eviction; things have to be pretty bad before they get to that point. For
example, if you miss a month of rent, the landlord is going to give you notice
about that. If you pay the rent and the fees to them right away, then the eviction
issues will go away and you are good. If you have a pet that is not allowed,
you will have time to get rid of that pet before the landlord decides to
continue with the eviction.
You can also choose to leave the apartment once
the landlord starts the eviction proceedings. This is not a lot of fun, but it
can allow you a way to avoid an eviction on your record. Overall, it is better
to just be a good tenant, follow the agreement that you signed earlier, and pay
your rent on time so that you never have to worry about the eviction at all.
Having a good rental history is so important as
you go through life. This can make it easier for you to get the apartment that
you like, and can put you at the top of the list even when there is some
competition. With that in mind, it is time to come home to one of our great apartments in Houston. We have
