The CIOB membership qualification
grade has two levels: MCIOB and FCIOB.
The two chartered statuses are recognised and respected in the industry. Any
candidate who possesses the destination will benefit a lot in the industry. The Chartered Institute of Building promoting qualifications for construction
management provided different grades of qualifications: Student Membership,
Associate Member, Incorporated Member, Chartered Member and Fellowship.
However, ACIOB and ICIOB status are no longer available. Candidates who possess
the right qualification and experience in the field can directly apply for the
MCIOB or FCIOB qualification. There are many routes through which an individual
can apply for the Chartered Membership Professional Review. If a candidate
wishes to progress towards the Professional Review, then he or she must possess
the required qualification and years of experience in the field. There are
three routes through which an individual can apply for the MCIOB qualification.
The Chartered
Membership Programme, the Professional
Development Programme and the Professional Review. But, before approaching
the routes, the candidate must possess the right qualification and gain the
experiences to proceed.
Finding the right qualification
The eligibility for the chartered
membership qualifications are as follows: An accredited degree from CIOB, at
least five years’ experience in the construction field of work, a bachelor’s
degree in the construction and civil engineering field, or an NVQ level 6 or 7
which is equivalent to a master’s degree. If a candidate possesses either one
of the requirements, then he or she can apply for any route.
For example:
Possessing a CIOB Level 4 Diploma in Site
Management will provide the opportunity to apply for the
Chartered Membership Programme. CMP is a level 6 course which covers the
essential knowledge to qualify an individual as a professional. With a CIOB
Level 4 qualification, the candidate can apply for the CMP route and further
advance to the Professional Review.
On the other hand, if a candidate possesses
an NVQ
Level 6 Diploma in Construction Site Management, he or
she can apply directly to the Professional Review stage. The NVQ Level 6
qualification is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree through which
the candidate will obtain the right knowledge to become an MCIOB. The College of Contract Management in the UK delivers the CIOB qualification and CIOB
Chartered Membership Programme through live online lectures. CIOB
accredits the online college to provide the qualifications. CCM UK also
provides the NVQ level qualification, which is a suitable course to progress in
the construction site management profession.
